You're right in saying that there are other expressions of the Sazerac - I only mentioned the Thomas H Handy because of the award it recently won.

As I understood it from reading around the material I got yesterday, there are four different expressions from the same Straight Rye recipe; The Sazerac, Van Winkle 13, Thomas H Handy Sazerac and the Sazerac 18. In terms of the ages, I'm honestly not sure any more! According to the brochure the rep gave us, and what he was saying, the THH is matured for longer. That said, the technical specification sheet says it was distilled in Spring 2006 and bottled in Summer 2012 - in line with what you were saying!

I'll do a separate blog post (with the resources pictured) so you can have a look at the information I've got and see if I can get to the bottom of this one...Garethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17859486540598651799noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-767660278356415168.post-36667667758331250642012-12-19T23:52:27.613+00:002012-12-19T23:52:27.613+00:00This Sazerac goes by "Baby Saz" because ...This Sazerac goes by "Baby Saz" because of its older brother Sazerac 18yo Rye. Thomas H Handy rye is a different bottle, also part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection lineup. It is of similar age with the Baby Saz, 6-8 years (not 12-15), but it is at barrel strength, and worlds away in terms of complexity. Incidentally, Sazerac 18yo rye is at 45%, same as Baby Saz.Florinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14445344658258056628noreply@blogger.com
